What is polycarbonate solid sheet used for?
Polycarbonate solid sheet is used for roofing panels, greenhouse glazing, pergola roofing, safety glazing for windows and doors, bus shelters, canopies, industrial safety barriers and protective screens. Its high impact resistance and UV stability make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
What thickness polycarbonate sheet do I need for a greenhouse?
For greenhouse glazing, 4mm polycarbonate sheet is the most common choice, offering a good balance of light transmission, impact resistance and weight. For larger or more exposed structures, 6mm provides additional rigidity. All our sheets are UV protected as standard — they will not yellow or become brittle with prolonged outdoor exposure.
What is the difference between solid and multiwall polycarbonate?
Solid polycarbonate sheet is a single-layer transparent sheet offering maximum clarity and impact resistance — ideal for glazing and screening applications. Multiwall polycarbonate (twin wall, triple wall) has internal air chambers that provide thermal insulation, making it better suited to conservatories and insulated roofing where heat retention is important. Can polycarbonate sheet be cut to size?
Yes. We offer a free cut to size service on all polycarbonate sheets — simply specify your dimensions at the order stage. Polycarbonate can also be cut on site using a fine-toothed circular saw or jigsaw. Always support the sheet fully during cutting and leave the protective film in place until installation to prevent scratching.
Are your polycarbonate sheets UV protected?
Yes. All polycarbonate sheets supplied by 365 Plastics are UV protected as standard. This prevents yellowing, hazing and surface degradation from prolonged sun exposure, ensuring long-term clarity and performance outdoors. No additional coating or treatment is required for outdoor use.
What colours are polycarbonate sheets available in?
Our solid polycarbonate sheets are available in clear, bronze and opal finishes. Clear polycarbonate allows maximum light transmission. Bronze is tinted to reduce glare and solar heat gain. Opal provides diffused, even light distribution — commonly used in signage backlighting and commercial light fittings.
